Philippine Airlines (PAL) has reinforced its commitment to operational excellence by extending its partnership with Airbus through a renewed Flight Hour Services (FHS) agreement. The comprehensive contract now encompasses the airline’s entire Airbus fleet, including the A350, A330 Family, and A320 Family aircraft, marking a significant milestone in the long-standing relationship between the two aviation leaders.
The expanded scope of the agreement covers a substantial portion of PAL’s long-haul and narrow-body operations, specifically nine A350-1000s, 11 A330 Family aircraft, and 43 A320 Family jets. Under the terms of the contract, Airbus will provide a full suite of component support services. This includes standard exchange programs, component repairs, reliability engineering, and dedicated on-site stock management at PAL’s primary hub in Manila. The holistic approach is strategically designed to maximize fleet availability, bolster operational reliability, and offer the airline greater cost predictability over the long term.
This latest agreement builds upon a foundation of trust established in 2018, when PAL first engaged Airbus FHS to support its A350-900 fleet. The collaboration proved successful, leading to a significant expansion in 2022 that brought the A320 and A330 fleets under the FHS umbrella. The current extension not only continues but also unifies this support, reflecting PAL’s confidence in Airbus’s ability to deliver integrated, multi-fleet maintenance solutions tailored to its evolving needs.
Airbus FHS is recognized globally for its Power-by-the-Hour expertise, particularly in providing material services for A330 and A350 operators. By leveraging Airbus’s extensive engineering knowledge, advanced digital tools, and data-driven analytics, the program aims to help airlines like PAL optimize performance while controlling maintenance expenses.
Anand Stanley, President of Airbus Asia-Pacific, emphasized the strength of the partnership. “We thank Philippine Airlines for extending its Flight Hour Services agreements across its entire Airbus fleet. This demonstrates the strength of our long-standing partnership and our shared commitment to operational excellence,” Stanley stated. He highlighted that by delivering comprehensive component support and on-site services in Manila, Airbus is directly contributing to PAL’s ability to optimize fleet performance while benefiting from predictable, long-term maintenance costs. The renewed agreement underscores a mutual dedication to ensuring the highest standards of safety and efficiency for the airline’s operations.
