Satair to Acquire Unical Aviation, Boosting USM Capabilities.

by Editorial Staff

In a major strategic move, Satair, an Airbus company, has announced an agreement to acquire Unical Aviation Inc., a prominent global supplier of aircraft parts and components, along with its subsidiary, ecube. This acquisition is a significant milestone for Satair, fundamentally enhancing its position in the Used Serviceable Material (USM) market and reinforcing its commitment to delivering comprehensive, integrated aftermarket solutions for the aviation industry.

The transaction brings Unical’s and ecube’s extensive expertise into the Satair group. Unical is a leader in USM, while ecube specializes in critical aircraft storage, disassembly, and transition services. The deal includes seven operational sites and offices across North America, Spain, and the United Kingdom. This addition significantly expands Satair’s global footprint, incorporating a combined workforce of 413 employees and projected 2024 revenues of $298 million. Subject to customary regulatory approvals, the acquisition is anticipated to be finalized in early 2026.

This strategic move is central to enhancing aircraft lifecycle management capabilities. By integrating Unical and ecube, Satair will bolster its role as a reliable provider of end-of-life support and sustainable aviation solutions. The newly acquired infrastructure and services are a powerful complement to Satair’s existing offerings, which are supported by its 2022 acquisition, VAS Aero Services. The combined force will leverage VAS’s capabilities in engine and multi-fleet USM, creating a more robust and resilient supply chain for customers.

Leadership from both companies expressed strong enthusiasm for the partnership. Richard Stoddart, CEO of Satair, stated that the acquisition is essential for prolonging the lifespan of material resources, maximizing asset value, and establishing responsible material practices. Sharon Green, CEO of Unical, described the partnership as a pivotal moment that will unlock significant value for all stakeholders, aligning perfectly with Satair’s ambitions for services growth, material availability, and sustainability.
