Rocket Lab wins contract for four dedicated Electron missions with BlackSky.

Rocket Lab has secured another multi-launch agreement with BlackSky, adding four dedicated Electron missions to their existing manifest. The contract extends a partnership that began in 2019, bringing the total number of launches for BlackSky to 17 and positioning Rocket Lab as the space monitoring company’s primary launch provider.

The missions will support deployment of BlackSky’s third-generation Earth observation constellation, which incorporates artificial intelligence capabilities for real-time imagery analysis. Each Electron rocket will feature Rocket Lab’s Advanced Lightband separation systems, ensuring safe spacecraft deployment while demonstrating integration across the company’s launch and space systems divisions.

“This partnership is built on reliability and execution,” said Rocket Lab CEO Peter Beck. “With Electron’s track record and our team’s approach to launch services, we’re streamlining access to space for BlackSky through both newly signed missions and upcoming launches already under contract.”

BlackSky CEO Brian O’Toole emphasized the operational advantages Rocket Lab provides. “Their pre-launch integration support and precise orbital insertions help us deliver value with each launch,” O’Toole said. He noted that BlackSky’s rapid commissioning process allows customers to access capacity from newly deployed assets faster than traditional timelines.

The agreement arrives as Rocket Lab maintains strong demand for dedicated small satellite launches across commercial, civil, and defense sectors. The company launched a record 21 missions in 2025 and continues to see elevated interest heading into 2026.

For BlackSky, the expanded constellation capacity supports its mission of providing time-sensitive space-based intelligence to government and commercial customers. The Gen-3 satellites represent an advancement in imaging capabilities, designed to deliver clarity and rapid tasking responses.

Financial terms of the multi-launch agreement were not disclosed. The deal reinforces Rocket Lab’s position in the small launch segment, where dedicated service and schedule flexibility remain differentiators against rideshare alternatives.
