Calian Group Ltd., a leading provider of mission-critical solutions, has announced its inaugural partnership under the Calian VENTURES initiative with TACTIQL Inc., a veteran-owned Canadian company. This strategic collaboration is focused on co-developing and advancing sovereign, Canadian-made capabilities in direct support of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) modernization priorities. The alliance aims to deliver high-impact solutions that enhance interoperability, shared situational awareness, and the speed of informed decision-making across military operations.
This partnership unites TACTIQL’s innovative agility with Calian’s extensive systems integration expertise. TACTIQL contributes its flagship FULCRUM platform, a next-generation intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) software designed to transform how mission-critical sensor data is conditioned, enriched, and distributed in real time. Calian brings decades of trusted experience in defence integration, command-and-control systems, and delivering interoperability solutions for the CAF and allied partners. By combining these strengths, the companies will accelerate the delivery of practical, deployable technology.
Key objectives of the collaboration include scaling the FULCRUM platform within the CAF’s command, control, and information systems ecosystem to accelerate the flow of mission-critical data from sensors to users. This will directly support CAF and allied customers with improved ISR and fires capabilities, increasing operational effectiveness. A further goal is to build future-ready, exportable solutions that contribute to strengthening Canada’s defence industrial base and fulfill Industrial and Technological Benefits (ITB) objectives, thereby promoting economic prosperity.
Leadership from both companies emphasized the powerful synergy. Chris Pogue of Calian stated the partnership turns Canadian ideas into crucial capabilities, ensuring readiness to evolve with defence customers’ needs. Mike Nelson of TACTIQL highlighted that Calian’s integration expertise is instrumental for scaling FULCRUM to meet CAF, Five Eyes, and NATO interoperability goals. This collaboration is also recognized as a hallmark of the Ottawa-Gatineau region’s growing defence sector, demonstrating how anchors and startups can unite to advance sovereign innovation and deliver global impact from Canada’s Capital Region.
