Avanti Communications Announces Strategic Partnership With Turksat to Bridge Connectivity Gaps in South Africa

by Editorial Staff

In a significant move to bridge the digital divide, Avanti Communications, a leading satellite service provider for EMEA, has announced a deepened strategic partnership with Türksat, Turkey’s national satellite operator. This collaboration is a pivotal step in Avanti’s mission to deliver high-quality connectivity across Africa, with an intensified focus on underserved communities in Southern Africa.

The enhanced agreement sees Avanti securing substantial additional capacity on Türksat’s advanced high-throughput satellite, Türksat 5B. This expansion builds upon a successful relationship initiated in 2019 and directly addresses the rapidly growing demand for reliable satellite services in the Southern African region. The partnership is a testament to both companies’ long-term commitment to fostering digital inclusion and economic growth.

Debbie Mavis, a Director at Avanti Communications, emphasized the strategic importance of the deal, highlighting how the alliance enables them to meet the surging demand for GEO satellite services. Dr. Selman Demirel, VP of Satellite Operations at Türksat, reinforced this, noting South Africa as a key growth market and praising Avanti’s established local presence and expertise as ideal for their joint expansion.

This partnership is strategically aligned with Avanti’s recent launch of ‘Avanti Everywhere,’ a new suite of Flexible GEO services designed to offer unparalleled adaptability and resilience. These solutions, which were showcased at the prominent AfricaCom event, strengthen Avanti’s portfolio and demonstrate its proactive response to evolving market needs.

Beyond simply extending network coverage, the Avanti-Türksat alliance is designed to be a catalyst for strategic inter-operator partnerships. By combining their capacity and capabilities, the collaboration aims to deliver seamless, high-throughput connectivity to enterprise customers while empowering local South African telecom partners. This synergistic approach is poised to drive meaningful national and regional growth within the telecommunications sector, creating a more connected and digitally empowered Southern Africa.
