Satair Acquires Unical and ecube to Expand Aircraft Lifecycle Services

by Editorial Staff

The transaction, which is anticipated to close in early 2026 pending standard regulatory approvals, will bring Unical’s expertise in USM parts distribution and ecube’s specialized services in aircraft storage, disassembly, and transition under the Satair umbrella. The combined operation includes seven sites across North America, Spain, and the United Kingdom. With a reported 2024 revenue of $298 million and a team of 413 employees, Unical and ecube represent a substantial expansion of Satair’s capabilities and global footprint.

This acquisition is the latest in Satair’s strategic consolidation of the aftermarket sector, following its 2022 purchase of VAS Aero Services. The company plans to leverage the combined strengths of VAS, Unical, and ecube to create a comprehensive service offering that spans the entire aircraft lifecycle, from component sourcing to end-of-life solutions and material recycling.

Richard Stoddart, CEO of Satair and Head of Airbus Material Services, expressed his enthusiasm for the deal, stating, “We are absolutely delighted to welcome Unical and ecube to Satair.” He emphasized that the move is central to enhancing aircraft lifecycle management. “Prolonging the lifespan of material resources is essential – not only is it the most effective way to maximise the value of assets, it is also integral to establishing responsible material practices that benefit both our customers and our industry’s long-term future,” Stoddart added.

Sharon Green, CEO of Unical, echoed this sentiment, calling the partnership a “pivotal moment.” She noted, “As a global leader in USM and a premier provider of aircraft storage, disassembly, and transition services, Unical and ecube are a powerful and natural match for Satair’s ambitions in services growth, material availability, and sustainability. We’re proud of what we’ve built—and even more excited for what’s ahead.”
