StandardAero Breaks Ground on Major Winnipeg Facility Expansion to Boost MRO Capacity

by Editorial Staff

WINNIPEG, MB – StandardAero (NYSE: SARO), a global leader in aerospace engine maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO), has announced a significant expansion of its Winnipeg campus. The company has broken ground on a new 70,000-square-foot addition, a strategic investment designed to increase capacity and accelerate turnaround times for key commercial and military engine programs.

The expansion will bolster support for two critical turbofan engine families: the GE Aerospace CF34-3, which powers regional jets like the Embraer E175 and MHIRJ CRJ, and the CFM International CFM56-7B, the engine for the Boeing 737 Next Generation family and the P-8A Poseidon military aircraft. This growth will help meet rising global demand for MRO services from both commercial and defense operators.

The project is supported by a $3 million investment from the Manitoba provincial government, underscoring a public-private partnership focused on economic growth and job creation in the region.

“This investment solidifies our commitment to CF34 and CFM56 operators globally and significantly enhances our service capabilities,” said Russ Ford, Chairman & CEO of StandardAero. “Our Winnipeg team has built a 25-year reputation for excellence on the CF34 platform, and this expansion ensures we continue exceeding customer expectations for decades to come.”

The Honourable Jamie Moses, Manitoba’s Minister of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation, highlighted the partnership. “StandardAero’s decision to further invest here is a powerful endorsement of Manitoba’s skilled workforce and our growing aerospace sector, supporting thousands of local jobs.”

Peter Wheatley, Vice President & General Manager for the CF34/CFM56 programs, noted that the expansion reinforces the company’s 114-year legacy in Winnipeg. The new facility, slated for completion in the second half of 2026, will feature state-of-the-art equipment and processes. Wheatley also confirmed that the majority of the new capacity is already secured through long-term customer contracts.

This expansion strengthens StandardAero’s position as a critical partner in the global MRO network, ensuring continued support for vital aircraft fleets worldwide.
