olutions (ADAS) has achieved a significant milestone, surpassing 10,000 flight hours with the Heron 1 Uncrewed Aerial System (UAS) during Frontex operations in Malta. The European Border and Coast Guard Agency awarded ADAS a second four-year contract in 2025 for maritime surveillance over the Central and Eastern Mediterranean Sea. These services utilize the Heron 1, a medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft System (RPAS) supplied by long-term partner Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI). ADAS delivers full turnkey solutions from bases in Malta and Crete, Greece.
Remarkably, the Malta operations were sustained over five years using only a single UAS, demonstrating continuous flight performance despite limited resources. This milestone underscores ADAS’s expertise in managing complex UAS missions under real-world conditions, including extended maritime missions, adverse weather, and operations from international airports and airspace—demanding high professionalism and precision.
Ralf Hastedt, ADAS Managing Director Sales and Business Development, stated: “This success underlines the high reliability of the system as well as the commitment and expertise of the teams involved.” He noted that the achievement was made possible by the dedication of ADAS personnel on-site and their supporting teams.
