The aircraft were delivered in December 2025 and will support Airlink, which operates the continent’s largest Embraer fleet, in enhancing its operational resilience.

In a strategic response to persistent global supply chain challenges, Airlink’s primary plan is to utilize the newly acquired assets for parts. The intention is to salvage components from the E190 airframes and retain the engines as crucial spares for its active fleet. However, the airline has also confirmed it is evaluating potential future operational roles for the aircraft, keeping its options open.

The transaction highlights TrueNoord’s focus on providing adaptable solutions in a complex market. Maarten Grift, TrueNoord’s Sales Director, remarked, “This transaction underscores TrueNoord’s commitment to supporting operators with flexible solutions that address today’s operational challenges. We were pleased to work with Airlink’s experienced team to help strengthen their fleet resilience despite dynamic market conditions.”

For Airlink, the acquisition is a proactive measure to ensure fleet reliability. CEO de Villiers Engelbrecht stated, “Securing these aircraft is a strategic move to safeguard the reliability of our Embraer fleet. By acquiring additional engines and components, we can mitigate the impact of global supply chain disruptions and maintain the high standards of service our customers expect. We value our partnership with TrueNoord and appreciate their flexibility.”

The deal also reinforces the strong partnership between the two companies. TrueNoord’s Chief Commercial Officer, Richard Jacobs, noted, “Our joint collaborative efforts ensured the sale was finalized in a timely and efficient manner, further strengthening our relationship with this leading African operator. It was a pleasure working with Airlink’s entire team.” Jacobs also extended thanks to the aircraft’s previous lessee, Breeze, for their support during the transition.

The sale represents a pragmatic collaboration in the aviation sector, where lessors and operators are working closely to navigate supply chain constraints while ensuring continuous operational efficiency and fleet preparedness for future demands.
