Philippine Airlines (PAL) and Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) have signed a renewed and extended long-term maintenance agreement covering the airline’s GE90 engines. The contract amendment was formalized on March 25, 2026, at PAL’s headquarters in Manila, reinforcing one of the longest-standing GE90 partnerships in the Asia-Pacific region.
As one of the earliest adopters of the GE90 engine in the region, Philippine Airlines continues to entrust its fleet to AFI KLM E&M’s technical expertise. The renewed agreement is tailored to support the airline’s fleet as it enters a mature lifecycle phase, with a focus on operational efficiency and cost management.
Under the extended contract, AFI KLM E&M will deliver comprehensive support, including shop visits, predictive maintenance solutions, spare support, on-wing services, and engine line-replaceable unit (LRU) pool access. In parallel, the partnership continues to cover PAL’s CFM56-5B engines through a dedicated local “OWS Corner” that provides specialized support for the airline’s A320 fleet.
Alvin Kendrich Limqueco, Senior Vice President and Chief Supply Chain Officer at Philippine Airlines, emphasized the value of the long-standing collaboration. “Renewing our GE90 support agreement with AFI KLM E&M helps ensure seamless operations, dependable service, and solutions suitable to our evolving fleet,” he said. “Their expertise and deep insight into our operations make them a truly reliable partner.”
Pierre Teboul, Senior Vice President Commercial at AFI KLM E&M, noted the significance of the renewed commitment. “Continuing our support for Philippine Airlines, a pioneering GE90 operator in the Asia-Pacific region, is a true privilege,” he said. “This renewed agreement highlights the strong mutual trust we have built over the years. It also demonstrates our ability to adapt our solutions to the evolving needs of a mature fleet.”
The extended agreement underscores Philippine Airlines’ continued confidence in AFI KLM E&M’s operational performance, technical depth, and longstanding GE90 experience amid a competitive regional landscape.
