Patria and Latvia Sign Comprehensive Life-cycle Support Agreement for CAVS 6×6 Armoured Vehicle Fleet

Patria and Latvia have formalized a comprehensive Life Cycle Support (LCS) agreement for the CAVS 6×6 armoured vehicle fleet operated by the Latvian National Armed Forces (LNAF). This new contract builds upon the broader multinational Life Cycle Management (LCM) framework established in 2024, which was originally signed by Latvia, Finland, and Patria, and has since been joined by Sweden and Denmark.

The agreement is tailored specifically to Latvian operational requirements, defining clear processes, responsibilities, and services to guarantee the fleet’s long-term operational readiness. Crucially, it aligns with Latvia’s stringent security of supply needs by consolidating all local and Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) level sustainment activities into a single, streamlined contract. This ensures that maintenance, spare parts, and expert support are seamlessly integrated.

“This agreement strengthens Latvia’s long-term readiness by combining capabilities of the national defence industry with Patria’s OEM expertise,” stated Pekka Ruutu, Executive Vice President of Patria’s Sustainment Solutions business area. “The LCS framework ensures reliable, efficient and future-proof sustainment for the Latvian CAVS fleet for years to come.”

The partnership is further reinforced by significant local industrial involvement. Since 2022, vehicles have been assembled in Latvia, and a comprehensive technology-transfer programme for maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) was successfully completed in 2025. This has been complemented by the establishment of a dedicated spare parts stock, designed to support operations in both peacetime and crisis conditions.

Ugis Romanovs, Patria’s Country Manager for Latvia, highlighted the strategic depth of the collaboration. “Through the CAVS programme, Latvia’s security of supply in armoured 6×6 vehicles will be exceptionally strong,” he said, citing the local assembly, MRO capabilities, and robust spare parts stock.

The Finnish-led CAVS programme continues to expand, now comprising seven member nations: Finland, Latvia, Sweden, Germany, Denmark, the United Kingdom, and Norway, with vehicles also operational in Ukraine. With over four decades of experience, Patria leads the 6×6 system development, emphasizing local industrial participation. The programme’s structure ensures that each new member nation inherently reinforces the collective security of supply for the entire collaboration.
