Mehler Protection, a division of Mehler Systems, has expanded its advanced protection portfolio with the launch of Omega Core, a next-generation ultra-light combat helmet engineered for modern military and tactical operations. Designed to address the evolving demands of extended missions, the system prioritizes mobility, integration, and operator endurance.

The defining feature of the Omega Core is its construction. By combining an optimized UHMWPE composite core with a shell-integrated energy-dissipation system and an ergonomically designed interior, the helmet achieves an exceptional weight-to-performance ratio. This architecture reduces physical strain, alleviating neck fatigue during prolonged use and allowing for greater agility in the field.

A key enabler of the helmet’s versatility is its open rail architecture. This modular platform provides seamless interfaces for night vision mounts, visors, communications gear, hearing protection, and other mission-specific accessories. Inside, the helmet features multi-chamber pads and adaptive anchoring points designed to minimize micro-movements under dynamic conditions, ensuring a stable, comfortable fit. A continuously ventilated suspension net further enhances comfort by reducing heat build-up and perspiration during high-intensity activities.

Engineered for ballistic resilience, the Omega Core’s shell is designed for low backface deformation and effective fragment deflection. Its modular architecture allows for configuration across a wide spectrum of scenarios, from rapid mobility operations to environments with fluctuating threat levels.

“With Omega Core, we are setting the benchmark for ultra-light, fully integrable combat helmets,” said Dr. Mario Amschlinger, CEO of Mehler Systems. “The system is Made in Germany and underpinned by a resilient European supply chain. Operators benefit from around 20 percent weight savings compared to the current Bundeswehr combat helmet, without compromising protection, ergonomics, or system integration.”

The helmet has been rigorously tested against military-relevant standards, including fragment protection protocols and ballistic evaluations with operationally significant handgun ammunition, ensuring it meets the stringent demands of military users.

Manufactured at Mehler Protection’s dedicated facility in Fulda, Germany, the Omega Core benefits from automated production lines with a current capacity exceeding 50,000 units per year. This capacity can be tripled on short notice, supported by dual sourcing and a qualified European supplier network, guaranteeing reliable delivery for large-scale defense programs. The Omega Core will be on display at Enforce Tac 2026.
