Finnish defence technology company Senop Oy has been awarded a significant contract by the French Armament General Directorate (DGA) for the supply of its advanced fire control system, the Senop AFCD TI. The agreement, finalized following a rigorous multi-year evaluation, underscores the strong industrial collaboration between Senop, the DGA, and Saab’s Ground Combat Unit.
The selection of the AFCD TI marks the culmination of an extensive development and validation process. Throughout this period, Senop worked in close cooperation with French authorities to conduct comprehensive testing, tailor the solution to meet specific technical requirements, and ensure full operational compliance. This collaborative effort has resulted in the DGA opting for what it considers the most technically advanced and capable sighting system available to meet its operational needs.
“This contract is a vital recognition of our international growth strategy and our enduring dedication to delivering reliable, cutting-edge technology,” said Aki Korhonen, President of Senop Oy. “We are deeply honored by the trust the DGA has placed in us. We are eager to commence deliveries and to continue strengthening our partnership in the years to come.”
Contract execution is scheduled to begin in 2026. Senop has committed to upholding the highest quality standards throughout the production and deployment phases. The company will also provide comprehensive training, maintenance support, and full lifecycle services to guarantee sustained operational readiness for the French Armed Forces.
The Senop AFCD TI is an intelligent, next-generation sight designed primarily for Saab’s shoulder-launched weapon systems, including the Carl-Gustaf® M3 and M4. It is a fully digital solution that uniquely integrates thermal, daylight, and fusion channels alongside a laser rangefinder and ballistic calculation capabilities. This integration effectively doubles the effective engagement range in all conditions, day or night, compared to traditional sights. By providing precise first-hit accuracy, the lightweight and intuitive system sets a new benchmark for modern combat effectiveness.
“Our R&D team dedicated significant effort to this program, tailoring the system to precise end-user specifications,” commented Lasse Elomaa, Product Manager at Senop. “We are proud of the result. The system has achieved full maturity and now supports multiple Saab weapon systems, making it an ideal choice for users operating various shoulder-fired systems.”
Senop remains dedicated to providing its global partners with advanced defence solutions backed by long-term industrial reliability. Due to contractual restrictions and the prevailing security environment, further details of the agreement remain confidential.
